A great wet day activity was to visit to the Big Pit, a great tour and very wheelchair friendly.

This was our second visit to Orchard House. We were happy with everything,

Michael W - 16.03.24 - 8/10

big pit
garden centre
room for all the different family members to do their own thing thing, paint- puzzle etc
Better weather to get outside walk - B B Q etc

Phoebe S - 19.02.24 - 10/10

We loved the rural setting of Orchard House, with it's spectacular views from the glass fronted dining room. The outdoors could be fully appreciated from the indoors, so it was ideal for our winter Half Term holiday! Orchard House is very easy, comfortable and perfect for a large family get together. Everyone could be entertained in either the huge and brilliant games room or the big screen TV room or could find a comfy, quiet space to relax. We particularly enjoyed meeting the owners for the cider and horse stud tours, they were both fascinating. Thank you OH, we hope to return...

Good local biking and walking in the area.

Rachel N - 03.01.24 - 8/10

We loved the house and all it offered for a large family - the games room and tv room in the annex were a big hit with the kids. Plus we loved being able to all sit together to eat in the kitchen diner.
Sorry we didn't go out anywhere - but we did do some walks and runs around the property, which were muddy and hilly but beautiful.

We stayed in as part of a larger group…

We stayed in as part of a larger group for the weekend. The house had everything we needed for our young family. All of the bedrooms seemed very spacious but in particular our family room was really big and warm. With all of the many, many things we need to travel with the room didn't feel full or cluttered at all.

Everywhere felt really clean and well looked after.

Typically we did what we thought was a thorough check before we left but ended up leaving an important little toy behind. Alison was really quick in coming back to me and liaising with the housekeeper to get the toy returned to us.

We would absolutely stay again.

Orchard House

The games room was excellent and was very much enjoyed by our mixed age party. The walks from the house were lovely, with interesting information provided about the farm and wildlife - wellies recommended at this time of year! The kitchen was great - really well equipped for a large group. The bedrooms were comfortable and the large number of ensuite rooms a real bonus.
Raglan Castle was well worth a visit and very close by. We also enjoyed Go Ape. The cider tour at Orchard House was a highlight for our group, with the bonus that we now have our cider supplies stocked up for Christmas! Sunday lunch at the nearby Lion in Trellech was also a big hit, and they were on the ball with gluten free requirements.

Jo and David are first class hosts. They couldn’t have done more to ensure we had a good time. Took us to see their horses and did a cider tour and tasting. The house was beautiful, very clean, and everything worked.

This is our second visit to Orchard House and it was just as brilliant as the last time we visited. The house is perfect for our Yoga & Hiking Weekends. Loads of space, bedrooms all lovely and comfy, views from the house are stunning and the kitchen is super well equipped! Looking forward to booking another one!

We did a couple of days hiking - one day around The Blorange (wild swimming there too!) and the second day hiking around Raglan Castle.

Wendy B - 13.10.23  - 10/10

From Orchard House, we enjoyed a walk along public footpaths to the Carpenters Arm pub. We had pre warned them of our arrival (22 of us, children and adults plus 2 dogs) and pre ordered sandwiches and chips. These were very welcome after out walk.

The staff at the pub were very accommodating :-)

On our way home we parked up at Ye Old Ferrie Inn, Symonds Yat and went for a walk along the river. Take coins for the car park.

Orchard House Monmouthshire

Excellent venue for a family reunion, great owners who gave us a tour of the grounds, we met the amazing horses and saw where cider was made. We had caterers one evening and had a hot tub. Very relaxing time, would thoroughly recommend.

Norman L - 26.08.23 10/10

In summary - excellent.
This is the second year we spent a week at this property and as before we found it clean, comfortable, quiet and ample accommodation for our family group consisting of 12 adults and 6 children. Also a very pleasant location with acres of land as part of the property which we were able to enjoy.
A very minor point, the welcome booklet needs updating especially with regard to wifi, although there is a useful qr code in the hall which links to the main wifi. I don't think this is mentioned in the book.
Also last year we found the qr codes at the back of the welcome book very useful as these gave an immediate link to videos describing various appliances in the house. However this year the qr codes linked to a vimeo site which appeared to require registration, so we managed without them.
Finally we would without hesitation recommend this property.

We just enjoyed walking around the orchard and the adjoining woods, which meant not having to negotiate the narrow country roads.
Thinking of attractions further afield we went to Raglan castle and particularly enjoyed a walk from the national trust car park at Clytha. We did the blue walk which convenienetly passed a pub (see below) about half mile from the end of the 4 mile walk.

Our stay was perfect, exceeding all expectations.
Having so much fridge space was one of many helpful features.
A few bees were around making some of the children a little anxious but given the time of year and location there isn’t much to do to avoid this.
We especially appreciated the owners kindly taking time to show us around the stables and the cider making plant. Thank you for a memorable holiday

We stayed 3 nights for our family meet up. There was so much to enjoy at the house ( catching up, relaxing, walks around the estate, the games room ) that we didn’t need any days out.
Some of our family took part in the Saturday morning Monmouth Park run and some of us called at Symonds Yat Rock on the way home.

Tom T - 02.08.23 - 8/10

Touring cider factory and visiting Spanish dancing horses (both on site) were fantastic.

GoApe, Symonds Yat & Monmouth ParkRun all great fun.

Even with a large number, enjoyed the feeling of space inside the house/annexe.
We used the terraced area with outdoor seating every day, thanks to the good weather.
We appreciated the table tennis and pool table for inter-generational games.

A family celebrating our mums 80th birthday

We had a fabulous time in Orchard house celebrating our mums 80th birthday. The facilities in the property catered for everyone's needs. The children and adults loved the games room. The majority of the bedrooms had ensuite facilities and the easy access bathroom facilties for our mum was a bonus. The outdoor seating area provided us with opportunities to look out onto amazing views. Isla the dog loved running around the garden and the walks in the surrounding area. The tour of the cider making facilities was enjoyed by the party and was very informative. A brief description of the property and its history when we arrived was also appreciated. Locally produced honey was delicious.
An amazing weekend providing precious memories. Thank you so much.

Great place, comfortable for our party of 16. We really appreciated the facilities. Loved the games room (unfortunately we forgot to bring home our posh table tennis bats but not to worry)  Beautiful walks nearby and not so nearby.  Days out:  Canoeing with the current on the river Wye on a sunny day with stop at a pub on the way.... very special.  Parkrun in Monmouth very friendly

I would have scored a 10 but the bedroom above the games room was very cold. Everything else was spot on.

Days out:  Didn't go for days out but did a lovely local walk

As the house is situated in the countryside the peace and quiet was very welcome. The facilities were first class, clean and tidy. We also enjoyed the fact that you could purchase Cider direct from the Farm.  Overall, it was a great place to stay, we look forward to visiting again in the near future

Great house and loved the games room, Plenty of room for all.

Angela S    21.10.22   10/10

What a place!  Everything was wonderful! - the house so well equipped with everything thought of and Jo and David on hand for any queries.  Maybe it would have been good to have a couple of chests of drawers for stoarge in some of the bedrrooms - the rooms on the top floor for instance, which only had a hanging rail - admittedly not an easy room with eves though.  The house suited our family group of 11 adults and 3 little ones perfectly with plenty of space for us all - the games especially, was great fun.  A beautiful setting with amazing views - we were lucky with the late October weather - overnight rain cleared and we walked every day, following the detailed maps of the farm.  What else can I say - we loved it and hope we can come back!  Thank you!  Days out:  We mostly stayed in and around the house as we were having a family get together, but we had a look around the historic town of Monmouth which was lovely with lots of interesting shops.  The 'girls' of our group ealso enjoyed some rare retail therapy with a trip to Baileys Home Store near Bridstow - a fabulous home interiors store!

Ruth T    18.10.22     10/10

The house was amazing and just what we needed - plenty of space for everyone to relax!  The kitchen was perfect, and full of everything we needed!  Thank you for a great stay!  Things to do:  I would recommend taking a hike up the Skirrid and the Sugar Loaf for amazing view!

This house is beautiful, very clean, the fixtures and fittings are of a high standard. They have literally thought of everything. The owners David and Jo are lovely and they even produce their own cider on the farm which I would definitely recommend. There are plenty of walks on the farm and the setting is stunning.

Magnificent setting made even better by great weather. Thanks
Brilliant WiFi for the location.

Orchard House was a fantastic home for our family celebration for a mix of generations that attended. The house was clean and well equipped with plenty of space for all. The games room was a hit with all ages. On arrival the hosts welcomed us sharing information about the house and surrounding area.
This property was more than we could have hoped for and we will definitely recommend it to others and would like to revisit ourselves on another occasion.

Karen H          07.06.22        10/10

We loved being in such a beautiful location, in a gorgeous house. The owners were great, giving us a guided tour, providing a map of their land where we had lovely walks, watching some amazing wildlife & horses.
The house was ideal, catering for a large family group from 6 years of age to 80yrs & everything inbetween!
The games room was perfect for keeping the youngsters occupied, the sports lounge kept the men happy watching the football, whilst drinking the owners cider which we bought.... the tv lounge kept the older generation snoozing & the outside seating with fire pit & bbq kept the ladies content...with a glass of G&T of course...
There is absolutely nothing negative to say...except we had to come home ;)

Rowena S         16.05.22          9/10

House and garden were lovely, all clean and tidy and plenty of equipment in the kitchen.
The only small thing that would have been helpful would have been some hairdryers!
It was lovely to meet the owner and know that we could contact her at any time for advice and help during the stay.

Kate R-D         05.04.22            10/10

The games room was a lovely addition. The only suggestion would be the addition of a darts board 🤣

Use What3words to get to OH. The post code takes you to the right lane but it’s another 1/4 of a mile and the app takes you right to it. I put my live location on WhatsApp and everyone found it. Jo sent me the W3w words to input into the app. Cannot fault Jo, she gave us a warm welcome and house/grounds brief and her hubby even let our daughter jump on the back of his tractor for a lift back to the house as her foot had swollen from walking. What lovely, kind people and very accommodating. They’d rather you contact them if you are unhappy about anything than not saying anything, not that we needed to.
Our party was 14 adults, 8 kids and 3 dogs. The rooms are fantastic quality, spacious, clean and each one has an en-suite or allocated bathroom. Bedding and towels included and plenty of spare quilts in the cupboards. Everything was really great quality with an incredible solid wood staircase, wide and bright. In the main house are 5 bedrooms on 1st floor and 2 on second floor-again great quality rooms, comfortable beds and modern, smart bathrooms. Plenty of hot water and high pressure showers, not one complaint from our party which is saying something. Downstairs had a study made up into a double for us, a snug, lounge with wood burner (awesome in January), dining room seating us all, fabulous kitchen with aga (& another cooker), utility, boot/coat area and toilet/shower. The kitchen had everything & a walk in closet for cleaning, fire lighters, light bulbs, hoover, mop/bucket/iron&board I do mean everything. 2 dishwashers, microwave, kettle, tea/coffee pots, lots of pots, pans, plates, cups, cutlery and all those little things like openers, ice buckets, gravy boats, bowls, lighters, corkscrew, washing tablets, liquid, washing powder for the washing machine, clothes maiden, t-towels everything even down to salt, pepper and condiments. 2 TVs one with sky in the annex snug. In the annex another 2 beds and 2 baths with its own kitchen-awesome. Then the games room is huge with pool, football and table tennis tables. We took our karaoke and sung the weekend away. Keeping the doors closed to reduce the noise which no one heard. Outside space is also great. Outside the annex is a covered area to the main house within a contained large, garden perfect for the dogs. Then there’s tables out the front with seating for the smokers. Outside the dining room is another covered area with seating and cushions gorgeous in the morning sunshine. The only one comment from a younger member was he wished for quicker internet but checking phones internet was ample.
We’ll definitely book again especially if the hot tub is back up & running our family really loved it. We had 2 family birthdays, took all our own food to feed everyone. And there are hooks in the corners of the dining room to tie ribbon/ballon’s and decorations to - seems everything is thought of. Thank you we just had the best time making great memories 😊

Paul S -  22.11.21     10/10

We stayed at Orchard House as part of a family group celebrating a 70th birthday.
The house is located on a farm in a lovey area and we received a warm welcome from the owner Jo, who very helpful and generous with time.
The House was well appointed and offered plenty of space to cope with 3 generations in the group.
The grandchildren really enjoyed themselves and the Games room proved a major plus for their sense of freedom. All the family particularly enjoyed the woodland walk on the farm.
We will have fond memories of our stay at Orchard House.

Ian M  -  17.11.21     10/10

Fantastic location, beautiful house. Well maintained . Everything just right. Loads of room inside and out. Games room was enjoyed by all as was tv room for kids and lounge for parents.
Perfect break

Sarah V - 08.11.21      10/10

I arranged this stay as a surprise for my husbands 50th birthday. We all absolutely loved it. So much space with different areas in the house to chill. Games room a huge hit with kids with pool, table tennis and table football. Log burner was so relaxing and cosy to catch up with friends whilst watching that. Aga in the kitchen made it super warm and cosy. Great area for 24 guests to eat together and plenty of glassware, plates etc with 2 dishwashers which was definitely needed. Host was super helpful and couldn’t have asked for any more. Will definitely visit again for a get together hopefully next year.  Days out - We didn’t do any days out nearby as the aim of the weekend was to spend time together and so much space in the house we all had a fabulous time. There are some lovely walks from the house around the gorgeous countryside.

Mary M - 30.10.21     10/10

The house provided a wonderful space for a large family gathering (21 in total). The games room was appreciated by all, many of the party had breakfast on the veranda, despite the rain. The large safe gardens enjoyed by the dogs and would have been great when our children were younger. We loved the big baths!  We really appreciated being able to walk around the orchards, although there was some confusion where we were convinced that we were in footpaths in the designated area in Gare Wood but we're approached by a land owner who explained we were in his land.  Kitchen very well equipped. Only additions we would suggest : chopping boards (separate for meat etc). My brother brought a hot water urn from home which worked very well with such numbers, saving electricity on boiling the kettle.  Maybe replacing the cutlery basket in the butler kitchen dishwasher would avoid frustration as the cutlery slips through the holes and stops the draw pulling out. All in all a fabulous property, thank you.  Days out - Nearby towns of Monmouth and Abergavenny. Raglan castle. Mountain biking at Cwm Bran. Road biking in local area. Lots of walks and runs in immediate area and the Wye Valley. 3 waterfalls walk in the Brecon Beacons. Fami!y members went to the cinema in Can Bran and some went to a concert in Cardiff. An excellent base which had something for everyone.

Dave C - 28.08.21

Just lovely to be in a peaceful location.  Days out - Butterfly zoo. Dean Forest Railway. Best was just spending time walking around their fields, orchards and woods!

Jane H - 01.08.21

We had a fantastic holiday. The house was amazing. The children loved running around the garden and it was great to be able to see them from the seating area. The owners were amazing - so kind and helpful. Gave some of us a ride on the back of the buggy and Jo gave such an interesting tour of the stables and the horses. The games room was brilliant - we had a lot of fun in there. All the bedrooms were amazing. It was a shame there were no knick knacks or books on the shelves because of Covid - I think there would have been a lot of interesting things there. I apologise that we didn't realise until the last day that the outside cushions were stored in the big chest under the stairs resulting in them getting rather wet. Am really hoping we will be able to go again next year.  Days out - Puzzlewood, Forest of  Dean family cycle trail, Paddleboarding on the river, Castles.  Thank you so much. Jane H

James H -31.07.21

The setting is magnificent. The light, spacious, modern rooms made it a comfortable experience.
The only two slight negatives were: (a) for a large group, the kitchen space was relatively small, though I realise there isn't much that can be done about that (b) we all commented it could do with a couple of 15 to 20 metre washing lines! This would be quite easy to fix, I'm sure.  Family bike ride along 10 mile route in the Forest of Dean was a highlight.

 Gary J - 31.07.21

Beautiful house with everything catered for and so safe for children

Tom R - 05.06.21

A very lovely house, lots of great facilities in the house which meant we never left the property (apart from a walk around the grounds) - it was great to have a large map of the farm grounds in the property which we used for our walks.
